Something to consider....
Cards #1 through #24 were not reprinted with "...series of 144" on the card back. These card numbers are only found with "...series of 48" on the card back. Card #'s 25 through 48 are found with both "...series of 48" and "...series of 144".
If we list the "series of 48" and "series of 144" as seperate checklists then cards #1 through #24 will be duplicated on each checklist as there is no way to differentiate between the different print runs for these cards.
The master set is generally accepted to be 132 cards and is broken down as follows:
- #1 - #24 "series of 48" (24 cards printed in 1933)
- #25 - #48 "series of 48" (24 cards printed in 1934)
- #25 - #48 "series of 144" (24 cards printed in 1934)
- #49 - #108 " series of 144" (60 cards printed in 1934)
Because of this, I would say that we keep it as one checklist with a VAR for cards #25 through #48. That way we can have a base set of 108 cards and a master set of 132....(133 with the addition of the #42 ERR card).
Splitting off the 48 would make it impossible to track "base" or "master" set.
My two-cents is worth slightly more than a penny.
