Huh, so in the discussion trashing bad eBay sellers, I asserted that the year of the a reprint card is the year that card is actually created, not the year it purports to be. Then I noticed that this site doesn't actually do that. For a set of T207 reprints, the site lists it under 1912 in one's list of sets in a collection, and I didn't see where the actual year of the reprint set is provided anywhere. Shouldn't a 1988 reprint set of 1912 cards be listed under 1988 everywhere it's listed, and clearly state in the overview or summary of the set that it was released in 1988?

Maybe I'm missing something.....Ah, I checked a few more reprint sets (roundthediamond87's impressive reprint collection is a rich source here), and the site isn't consistent. Sometimes it lists the year of the reprint; sometimes it doesn't. We should work on fixing that....

I agree completely...however, not all reprints list the year of reproduction and that is the problem. I don't know a way around it.

I may be guilty of listing reprint sets in the year of the original.  A lot of that has to do with not knowing exactly which year the reprint set was produced.  If someone knows, I would encourage them to have the set year adjusted. 

The only issue I have with not having the reprint set listed with the original year is that when people research sets from older years on this site, they might not realize the existence of a reprint set for that year.  In the case of the 1912 Brown Background set, I only stumbled upon the existence of that set by chance. 

Also, when I look at my collection list on this site, it's nice to see 1952 Topps with 1952 Topps Reprint instead of finding it in 1983 Topps.  I wonder if there is a way have both years identified, but have the set listed in either the year reprinted or in the original year depending on user preferences.  I would like to have my original set listed next to my reprint sets, which I only collect until I can replace them with originals.  I would never collect counterfeits though, and will write reprint or fake on the back of any that I come across.   

Not only do many not have a printing/release year, but many are in constant printing to keep up with sales demand (Larry Fritsch).  

In this case I say the year should be listed as the first year the set was made available.

The same is true of the Bird/Magic/Irving RC in basketball. To boot, the reprint year is not printed on the back of the card (or "cards" since they are listed individually). It is almost impossible to identify it/them as a replica.
