Why are cards on my want list included in the number of items in my collection on the Collection page?  I understand that I can get a further breakdown, excluding want list cards by clicking on a collection and isn't a big deal.  Just wondering if its a programming mishap or if there's some usefullness to it I haven't thought of.   

Not the best answer, but that's the way it's always been here. It was done by design.

Hadn't noticed it until today and thought at first that I had accidentally added a bunch of want list cards to my collection.  

Yeah I really wish that could be corrected at some point.  It always throws me off when on my page and see I have 15,000 cards only to realize I only have 7,000.  I think one of the drawbacks of the new feature tracker is little bugs like this (by design or otherwise) sometimes get overlooked.  Then I think of some of the great new features that might not have been added without the tracker, and I am fine with the trade off.

This is certainly something that could be mentioned in the tracker and maybe Admin will add it to guage interest.

I'm either not seeing what you guys see or don't understand what is being asked here. My "Collections" page has all of the types of cards (Collection, Wants, FS/T, Unopened) listed separate and there is no total for all of them. From my profile page, it shows 114K+ as my collection. That is all of my keeps and traders. It certainly doesn't include my wants as there are nearly 250K of those. I just thought of this while typing though. Would this have anything to do with having multiple collections listed on the site? If so, even then, it doesn't make sense to have Wants listed in the collection total.

I'm not sure how your profile is doing that, but click BDillman's page.  On his main page it says he has 24,487 cards in his collection.  He does, some are in his collection, the rest in his for sale/trade collection. However go down to links and click his collection.  Suddenly he has 129,439 cards in his 3 collections in total.  Then click his all collections. It shows his proper count again with 7,162 cards in his collection, 104,803 in his wants, and 17,325 in his For Sale (also 2 in unopened material).  It's the middle page that is showing the discrepency.  The number of collections doesn't matter, its including all the wants in the total.

It's a minor issue I know, but it is one that has always bugged me.

I think it is even worse than previously described. On my profile page, it shows that I have 395,227 cards. On my Collections page, total cards in all collections is 436,459. Over 100k are cards I have for trade. I experimented with adding a second card I already have to one of my Collections and then to my traders. Both totals went up 1 card. So how these numbers are computed, I have no idea.

I recognized this issue a long time ago and eventually just came to ignore it. The only numbers that mean anything to me and are accurate are the cards in each individual collection.

Here is an example from my own pages.

Please note 2 things in particular here:
#1 - My collection called "For Sale or Trade" is exactly that, only cards available FS/FT and listed as such, but "counted" in the total (429)
#2 - Please note the number for the "Philadelphia Phillies" collection (10,350), as I will be drilling down on that page next

Now, for the Phillies collection:

In "collection" - 9358
In "want list" - 983
In "in transit" - 9
Total - 10,350

Basically, the info on the Collection/Collections page is giving a sum of all the portions (Collection, Want List, FS/FT list, in transit, in transaction), not simply the cards in "collection".

Remember also, that if you go to a card's page, it might say "28 mentions in collections" and then when you click that link, 16 are in "collection", 8 are on "want lists", and the other 4 are "FS/FT". So it's consistent across the site, and Admin has done this by design (like I said, it's always been that way). Maybe what I could suggest in the tracker is the expansion of that table. Instead of it having the single column of "Items", we could have it broken into "Collections", "Want list", "FS/FT", "Transit", "Transaction", and then "Total Items". My biggest concern with requesting this is it's feasibility because this may not be very mobile-friendly.

In the meatime, before anything is changed (if it's even changed), the term "Collection" is used in two ways. First, anything logged here whether it be FS/FT or want list, is considered an "Item" in your overall collection, while your "keepers" are listed as being in your "Collection" within your overall "Collection".

I didn't notice it until recently after adding two other collections.  So, there may be something to the multiple collections questions.  Although, I also didn't notice it until I added a huge number of wants, so it could have been that way all along and just not as noticeable.
