I've been scanning my 2012 Leaf National Convention set. It's unlicensed, so no team is listed anywhere on the card. In many cases, one can deduce the team by the photo on the card. Do we always list the team by the photo on the card?
There is one in particular that I am asking about. Jim Kelly was already listed "Buffalo Bills," but from the scan, I would say that is his USFL Houston Gamblers uniform. Which team should be listed for this card?

I would say it would be the Houston Gamblers (I agree that's who he's pictured with).
Team hierarchy from the FAQ would indicate as such: https://www.tcdb.com/FAQ.cfm?ITEM=TeamHierarchy
- Use team in any "Traded to, Signed with, Now with, etc." statement printed on the card N/A
- Use team printed on the front of the card N/A
- Use team logo printed on the front of the card N/A
- Use team name printed prominently on back of card (not in biographical write-up) N/A
- Use team logo printed on back of card N/A
- Use team uniform shown on front of card

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

That was my thought. However, given that the card is licensed and the team pictured may be ambiguous, I wondered if it was better to err on the side of the more well-known or more associated team with that player.

Leaf IS NOT licensed by any league, team, or player association. They are solely licensed by the player. That's why Leaf cannot show any team or league logos. And they cannot mention team names or even state/city on their cards.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Well, Reggie Jackson could be an Athletic or Yankee if we went with "well-known". I know this, if I come across a card that doesn't have a team assigned, usually when there isn't a scan, if I can't confirm independently which team it may be I just move along. Usually happens when a player could be repped by different teams if it's historical based set (Oritz as a Twin or Red Sox, Bonds as a Pirate or Giant, etc.).

Tired and trembling I am descending, will I have to stay here and live this life again?

Unlicensed is what I meant.

Thought that might have been the case.

Should the team name be left blank in tcdb for all unlicensed cards that don't have team logos or team names on them be? I have lots of unlicensed Scottie Pippen cards e.g. Sage, Leaf, Scoreboard, Wild Card, and most of the time he is wearing a plain red uniform indicating bulls or other times he is wearing a black jersey indicating blazers. If we know what card they're pretending to be in, do we use that?
