Yes, my thought on flash drives too, pretty cheap. I would keep each sport/flashdrive. Think that would work. Plenty of room then on each flash drive to add.
Has anybody used/tried ScanSpeeder?
What about Kronocard?
FYI: If there is anybody in need of a scanner, I have a few older ones, HP, Dell and Canon. I would gladly trade for some cards and cost of S/H. Please PM me, if interested.

1 - Epson WF-3540 (All-in-one printer/scanner/etc)
2 - The software that came with the scanner to scan / PhotoScape for cropping / rotating / aligning / ensuring the image looks like the card
3 - I don't store the images - I have a folder where they go upon scanning, I edit in there, and then once uploaded, delete
4 - If you use PhotoScape (or similar), you won't have to worry about crooked scans - use the alignment tool, and viola, it'll be straight. I place a card on the scanner and scan - I don't worry about lining it up on the bed. It's made scanning SOOOO much easier. Don't scan a whole set, then crop and align, and then upload. Each part of the process is too boring. :) At least to me. I like to do a few cards at a time - since I have a standard size scanner, I pop 4 cards MAX on the bed to scan, flip them, copy the files 3x (so I have 4 of each), crop/align the fronts, crop/align the backs, and upload front/back of each of the 4 cards. Then do the next 4. To try to crop/align more than that in a row makes my eyes crossed and gives me a headache. Not even a joke. I haven't scanned in a while. I was doing the Yzerman collection, got interrupted by vacation and haven't picked it back up. I find doing things like the Yzerman collection fun, I find complete sets boring and tedious. And I have a few that need scans.

Dan,
Don't you use the software that came with the Epson? Just Photoscape?
Oh, no-way I couldn't do too many at a time. My plan, find sets missing cards that I have cards for, Scan, Upload. I think that approach might work for me. Whatya think?
Unfinished work, I'm the last guy to talk. I always start my ideas, then get distracted by something else.

Yes, I said that:

Doesn't that software do everything that Photoscape does? It appears that the Epsom software , according to googling and the User Guide is suppose to do all the "fixin'". ????
What makes Photoscape so good?

I won't reply to anyone else's replies because you asked what we do, so here's my way.
I have a Canon MG6820 and use the software that came with it. I scan, crop and then save from there. I save files to my computer in a subfolder called "New Scans". The main folder is called "Sports Cards" with multiple subfolders (for teams and specific people). I scan about 5 to 10 cards front and back, then I upload to here. If the cards are not PC cards, the scans get deleted after upload is complete. If they are PC cards, they get moved to another subfolder depending on the person or team (ie. Cardinals baseball cards go to that subfolder, Jimmie Johnson racing cards go to his subfolder). Then my "New Scans" folder is empty again and ready for more scans. I do the same continuously. I also back-up my PC folders to a flash drive from time to time (depending on how many scans have been added in any given time period). Once a year, I copy my entire My Computer files (documents, pictures, scans etc.) onto a CD or DVD.
The reason I do so few at once is b/c it's faster to get the cards loaded here. With only a few scans, I don't have to scroll through all the cards I already loaded from that folder to get to the ones I want to upload now. It's easy to do with only having 3 programs open at once (File Explorer, Scanner program, TCDB). If I have a bunch of cards from one set though, I'll scan a bunch more before I start uploading. Then I'll just delete/move cards from the New Scans folder after I get a dozen or so uploaded. The less images that need to load when you go to upload folder, the faster everything happens.
That's my way Bob and I hope it helps you in some way to decide how you want to do it.

Thank You spaz, that was very helpful. And thanks to other members that lent a helping hand. I do believe I have an excellent foundation for entering the scanning world now.

He’s talking about the post he quoted. It’s a bot posting spam. I don’t see it in the thread anywhere outside of that so I assume it’s been removed, but yes, Admin should (and I believe will) remove that username from the site.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.
