Is there a way to propose a trade with cards that are in one of my collections rather than my For Sale/Trade list?

Let me explain. I'm currently re-entering my collection into the database, and I wanted to separate the thousands of base cards I will have for trade from the non-base (i.e. "hits"). This would allow other database users to check out my "Hits for Trade" and not have to sift through all the base cards I have listed. I had a collection set up like this, but noticed that I could not trade any cards from it, so I moved everything into my For Sale/Trade.

Can anyone offer any advice? I would greatly appreciate it.

I am not a 100% certain exactly what you are asking to do but if this helps towards it, good.

The only way another member will be able to sift through what you have is if it is "For Trade".  one way to keep the items separate from your truly for trade items is to place these in another collection.  They will then show up when someone matches lists in proposing a trade but in your own tracking, they will not be among those that are purely for trade.

There is the setting in your profile called "Allow other members to match their Wantlist to your Collection?" I've never turned that setting ON, so I don't know if that allows transactiions to include collection cards or not, but you may wish to experiment with that.

The only way that you can propose a trade with cards in collections, yours or theirs, not in FS/T, is to do it using the text method or PM-ing. The transaction manager program is not set up to allow users to browse through collections and add cards to proposals. They must be in FS/T lists.

The FS/T list gathers all the cards that you want to part with from all of your collections and places them on one list (per sport/genre).

To the OP, your  "Hits for Trade" is a good idea. However the cards would need to be moved to FS/T at some point for the TM to do its thing.

Maybe this could be considered for a new feature by Admin, then. I think it would be very useful.

The way I do it is to just hit edit and type out your proposed cards.  If yoou use the browse feature, hte cards must be in you FST list.  If its a few cards, typing them out works fine.  If a bunch, better to more them to FST for the transaction.  You can always move them back if it doesn't work out.
