There are many photographs that people have already snuck in. I find at least one a week. I put in the IR, get them removed, move on.
What worries me about this one is the amount of photographs that I forsee coming in where those who think that once one exception is made, that allows all of that variety to come in. That's NOT The case. But you KNOW there are some members who think that way, won't see this, and won't understand what a SINGLE exception means.
I may just have to steer slear of looking at others' images for .... well, forever.

I think anyone that cares enough to read the forum and reads this thread will understand it is not a free for all now. There was an exception made, but the rule still stands.

The answer is in the site's name. We are here to trade cards not look at photos of cards. You will understand that when you start trading. I wonder how long you took to do that and why. When it will be down graded to be posted here and the pixel rating will drop hard. Scan Scan all you can because the rules say No photos.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

Are you really one to talk about scanning cards to someone who has 2x more points than you in half the time?! How about you scan, scan, scan. I commend rinny for bringing up the topic and going about it in the right way. There are lots of cards that look like crap in scans but look SO good when you can actually see them. He did the work to see if it was possible to make the card look like it really does in-hand. Admin said that's good and to load it. He got permission before doing something that's supposedly outside the rules. I like the picture much better than the scan b/c he did it right. I've considered doing the same for hard-to-scan cards in the past, but didn't think it was worth the time if Admin said no. I have all the equipment to make pictures that look like scans too. I just don't have the time to mess with it if Admin isn't happy with the outcome. If his picture has the right ratios and pixels, the quality will not "drop hard" as you said. If it doesn't meet the stats, it won't upload anyway! Why are you fussing about someone trying to help the site with accurate representations of the cards listed on this site?

I haven't traded on this site but I am always referring to pictures on this site to ensure I am trading or buying the card I want. I have found the pictures of cards on this site to be one of the features I use the most. That's why I took the time to get the most accurate representation of the card I could. It probably took 10 - 15 mins all up. The why? I hope it will be useful to others. I enjoy contributing to this resource, another aspect of this hobby to enjoy.

That's part of the problem, not everyone reads the entire thread to get the gist of what was decided.

Sorry, RJ, you're incorrect. What's the key to the site's name is db - short for database.
This is a database for trading cards. The ability to use the tools here to set up trades (transaction manager) came after the fact, by user requests. I'm not here to trade. I came here for checklists so I could figure out what I had and what I didn't have. Trading on here is an added bonus to me.
And back to rinny1's point - "I think anyone that cares enough to read the forum and reads this thread will understand it is not a free for all now. There was an exception made, but the rule still stands." Unfortunately, there are those who will see this thread, not read it carefully enough, and say, "Oh, one photo was allowed, must mean we can start uploading photos now." And the sad thing is, we all know that this is the case. Yes, the rule still stands. Yes, you were granted an exception for ONE card.
Honestly, having worked with the photo editing tools, and seeing the scan, I think making the scan a little lighter would have been a very suitable scan of the card. But by time I finally got home so I could see the images, the exception had already been granted.
There are some members with attitudes around here that the database should cater to their collection, no matter what is it in and that the database should allow any images to be posted (I'm constantly amazed at what members submit that gets rejected in the queue). And I'm not just speaking about one member. There are many. And I believe that exceptions like this will lead to much more work for those of us who are trying our hardest to improve the site.

They will have to read to almost the end of page 2 to find that it was allowed.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Here's an idea for anyone who's concerned that a member might only read the second sentence of the third paragraph of the 17th post of this thread, and not see anything else: ask Admin to delete this thread. The original question was answered. Nothing more can happen here except arguing and confusion. Just ask him to delete this. Problem solved!
