Wow! That's a lot of work, Billy. Looks like you are leaving the Racing cards up to me and "Lea DeFoote" now. That's fine though. I don't really have anything more to add with non-sports and still have a ton more to do with Racing. I'll stick to what I know. Actually, I know MLB and NFL more, but there are plenty of members working on those already. So I'm sticking to what I know more about than most others do.
As long as we are all working towards common goals, the site can only get better!

I plan to do NASCAR and NBA as well. Just going to need time.
In the past three days I've gotten the Non-Sports down to under 6000, which means I've done more than 800 sets in that time.
I also taught my mom how to do it and she is working on it now as well. She did 6 or 7 sets today but it seems like her computer died tonight...it's always something. She enjoyed doing it.
I've actually been enjoing it so much I got my COMC Black Friday order today and I didn't even scan any of them, I just worked on the name system. I got two major milestones and a 1/1 of my favorite player in that order even, so it's kind of a big deal to me. And I still worked on the names anyway.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I've been working on non-sport too. Mostly trying to clean up established names. I'm honestly of the same opinion (mostly) on what should get a PID. I don't really like giving PIDs to "group" names, that is, not specific to a singular entity. I ran across a PID for simply "Automobiles" the other day. I can see giving it to specific entities like "Titanic" or "Enola Gay" or "Eiffel Tower" but not "airplane" or "building." My rule of thumb is if the name would be capitalized when used in the middle of a sentence, it should get a PID.
There is one exception that I don't know what to do with. Take "Wolverine" for example. That is the name of an obviously well-known and very popular comic book character. But there are also cards out there for the animal as well. Those are going to get picked up by Wolverine's PID. Another example is Angel, the vampire character from Buffy. He's a well-known character and should have a PID. But there are also cards with other things named "angel" that aren't really a singular character. I really don't know what to do about this. Is there a way to put something in the name edit where it won't automatically look for a PID so that non-unique names can remain PID-less? A little check-box or something?
I've even run into cards that have the title of an episode of a show for a name but they get picked up by an identical PID. For those, I've been trying to fix it by putting quotes around the name to indicate it is a title and not a name.
-------------------------------
Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

I have ran into the same issue jlamberth. I was adding Cyclops to the system and guess what, all the one-eyed fantasy beings got added into my superhero PID. So, I made a new Cyclops PID and marked it as Fantasy using the differential box. I would do the same for Wolverine. In the section for earmarking the difference between the two, I would put Animal for the non-Marvel hero. It is really time consuming because then you have to associate the new PID you created to the Wolverine Animal through the editing name option, but it does work. As long as those verifiying names later associate with the correct PID it should be easy later. As for Angel, I would just put TV in the box for the differential designation that or HB for Heavenly Being and then add the abbrevation to that section.

Another "glitch" to watch for is that single-name entities are sometimes linked to a person with that same word as their first name or last name. I've often found single-name models from adult-themed sets, and also single-name superheroes, showing up in totally wrong places. For instance, a pinup model simply named "Taylor" might have cards showing up on the Elizabeth Taylor PID. Came across a few just this weekend when I was also working on non-sport. I think this is something that Admin fixed a while ago, and existing ones stayed where they had mistakenly linked. Only seems to be an issue in non-sport. I clean those up as I come across them.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Mini-milestone alert.
We are now under 11,000 total sets needing name validation. October 21 was the first time I looked at how many sets needed name validation - it was over 17,000!
Keep up the good work. I can't wait to report the next milestone!

Nice to know that it dropped by over 6K in about 2.5 months. I was working on it a lot for Racing, until the ability to add Teams came into play. I still work on it, but while also adding the teams, so it takes longer to complete one set or release.
With all the releases coming out for any sport/non-sport over the next few months, it would be awesome if the number could drop to 7500 by summer! Anything lower than that would be a tremendous accomplishment by the site members!

16 days ago, I posted how we went under 11,000 total sets need name validation completed on them. Non-Sport has been going up ever since. It is closing in on being half of the total (48.9% right now).
When you enter a new checklist, please do the name (and team, if applicable) validation right then.
Thank you.

RE: sets that pop back up
If a card name is changed, validation needs to occur. So even when a card for Joe Schmo that had PID 12345 but should have been the other Joe Schmo with PID 54321, that needs to be re-validated.
