(This is not a Rant) Just happened to me... McAfee Total Protection ad which best resembles a bad Google extension. This happens once every so many days. I have cleared cached, double-checked my extensions, restarted my device...a few days later it will happen again. It only happens while navigating through TCDB, not on other websites. I do not know how much control this site and those that administer it have, but this ad needs to be removed if possible. If you are one of those that administers this website and you're using a pop-up blocker then you are probably going to have to disable that to recreate it. When I click on the x to close other Ads it says Ads by Google, but I am unable to do this for this particular add as it generates a popup and limits all functionality on the open internet session. The only way I can close it is to go through the Task Manager and close IE. I am aware of the subscription to disable adds, but this one is excessive. Ad blockers are nice, but again, this ad and the way it behaves best resembles one of those 90's era websites with little security/where popup ads were a thing. Its 2024 now and this shouldn't be happening. Regarding the comments about Admin not being in the Forums...I get it, but Admin should have an interest in issues related to this site and probably should be aware of what is typed in these forums. Emails in the past to Admin about other issues or suggestions from myself have gone unanswered, so that's where I am going to leave this one.
The best thing I can do for other members is make them aware by posting this comment and let people know that there is an Ad that resembles Mcaffee that displays a Security Alert Messages and then appears to be running a virus scan on your computer...this add will then prompt that a high-level threat is on your PC and action is needed. I am only experiencing this on my Windows device...have not seen this on my mobile device (Apple). (I am also using a newer version of IE.)
Should you get this Ad... all you have to do is open Task Manager and end the task (Internet Session) from there. Then you can open a new internet session and continue on your way. Do not click on the Ad or try to exit it...do as stated above and open task manger and exit your internet session that way.
