As an eBay seller of antiques I have been thinking of adding a lot of cards, starting with base cards, to my eBay store…. Maybe I’ll add in the description “top loaders secured only with painters tape” 😃

I'm not a hoarder, it's a "collection".... Joseph

As an Albert Pujols collector, I collect his cards knowing that I'll never get all of them.

My eBay store.- Be sure to check it out! FOR SALE/TRADE: View my profile for details! If there's a certain player you want, ask me about them, I'll probably have a card of their's that I'm willing to trade but haven't marked on my FS/T list. For more specific info, visit profile or message me.

I don't have 13K cards of him, that's how many have been produced of him.

Yep, Curtis Terry has about the same number of cards as HOFer Ted Simmons. This is not some pre-WW1 HOFer, this is a HOFer who played in the 70s and 80s. These are supposed to be collectibles. Who wants these Curtis Terry cards if his MLB career doesn't work out? 99% of them are going in the bin. I wish there were more cards of Simmons and others like him.
As for point 2, glad to know I'm not the only one that feels this way. One of the most frustrating things about the site. Oh well, there is some value when it happens though, I get a new entry on my No Trade List and call ghostbusters... alright well only the first thing.

My biggest question.. Why does a player have to be some type of super star to be on the card ? Trading cards were for kids to collect and admire their shining athlete on a team. A player can just be well liked to be collected. If the Brand thinks they will be a big seller, they add numerous cards of him, her.

I don't think it should be only super stars. I think it should be MLB players, unless its a dedicated minor league set.

I am glad I am not the only one with the packing tape/ scotch tape frustration.
I am so glad to be a member in this great community. I have met some great people and look forward to swapping for many many years to come. As my collection grows it take a bit longer to get the "big" trades pulled and packaged, and as long as I remember to communicate everyone has been more than understanding.
I wholeheartedly agree with the Curtis Terry phenomenon. I also am shocked that a Jasson Dominguez (yeah i know he is "good") chrome speckled confetti RC fetches THOUSANDS of dollars before he has even sniffed the big leagues, but Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs, Tim Raines, and countless other Hall of Famers RC cards can be had for less than a Benjamin. I guess it is a product of collecting someone from the junk wax years. At least there is '89 and '90 Donruss to pad the VAR numbers.

Generally, I don’t think kids are collecting cards. They can’t afford them anymore. Sure some kids are collecting some but I as a middle aged adult have stopped buying packs. I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices today.

Regarding #1, I've gotten a couple trades where the outer package is so wrapped with packing tape I feel it takes me 20 minutes to carefully cut open the package to get to the cards.
I've actually had the opposite on ebay, where I'll just get a loose card stuffed in an envelope without any protection, not even a plastic holder on it or even a penny sleeve.
#2, I get that although sometimes I'm one of those who will sit on a trade offer for a few days considering it if I'm on the fence on whether or not to accept it. I try to at least message the other person to give me a few days so they know I'm looking it over and pulling cards. I've been on the other side of that though, with trade offers sitting for weeks without responses. I'll usually leave them sitting there until I find another trader wanting some of the same cards.
#3, my guess is that the different card companies don't want to miss out for a player if they have break out into a star. That's why minor league cards have become popular even though most of those players never see the majors. Everyone wants to try to get their hands on that next Mike Trout card.
