Since I see a good amount of people trading on this site I was wondering if it's worth making a trade list of common base cards. I have tons of 80's to early 2000's base cards from years of wax/ box breaks. I may not even care if it's trade as long as someone wants them, Or, should I toss them in the trash to save myself time and headache.

Certainly there is a very active community of people exchanging base cards on the site. If you are concerned about the amount of time to enter everything from your invesntory, maybe search for people who have some of the cards on their want lists, and then survey their offerings. If you see a match, just send them a personal message.

Personally I am trying to complete sets from that era buy trading. As long as you are willing to put in the extra time to create a for trade list and a want list. I have found that there are a lot of traders willing to trade for those cards or trade older cards for some newer.

I think you should also consider what your Wantlist will look like. If you have a small or targeted Wantlist that consists of HOFers, inserts, high-end cards, etc., you won't get many trade offers against those commons. If your Wantlist is large, diverse, or perhaps full of commons as well (like as set builder), you'll get great trade activity.
If you end up with a Wantlist that's not conducive to those types of trades, but want to move the commons, you'll either have to play "catcher" by noting in your profile that you'll take offers for that stuff (and then wait) or you'll have to play "pitcher" and seek out members that have the cards in their Wantlists.
For the record, I logged all of my cards and don't regret it.

Logging my cards, wantlist and for sale/trade list was one of the best things I ever did to get back into collecting and has made the hobby that much more satisfying, even before I started trading. I highly recommend it. The trade reports help a ton. I also am looking to complete a lot of old sets by using cards from similar sets to trade since I have so many doubles.

There seems to be more base card collectors here than mid-high end ones. I only know from experience I only was really able to do trades on this site once I starting putting base and low tier inserts into my trade list. It isn't entirely the issue that there is no one who wants a card you may have, but rather the available trade partners dwindle if you have a uncommon collection/want list.
Also if you only have good cards on your trade list, but base on your want list, you'll end up having to set up trades where a lot more comes to you in volume than goes out. Despite values being values, some traders do not like to send out a large amount of cards, doesn't matter what they are getting in return or if the trade is even value or in their favor value wise.
So if you have base on your want list, you should have some base in your trade list.

HamPstr88 Said it pretty much for me.
I have 20,507 cards on my want list. The issue for me is there is less then 20 cards (on my want list ) that active members (30 days) had on their FS/FT lists. With 18,000 on my FS/FT list. I see no need to add 125,000 more commons.
When I make a trade or sale I will check and see if I have any more cards not listed to thrown in. I have sold a lot of cards that postage was more than what I got for the cards.

There are folks who are looking to complete junk era base, myself included. I put everything in the site and occasionally someone wants a bunch of my mid 80s stuff.

I'll join the list of people that log everything. I have cards that I think will be highly sought after that sit for months without any action, and cards I pull out of a shoebox from the 90s that get multiple offers within hours of me listing it. Just because I don't want it doesn't mean someone else doesn't. And just because I think it's great, doesn't mean others will!
