I just wanted to get opinions on whether reprints should be allowed on the database?
There may well be something about these written somewhere which I've missed.

Reprints, yes. Counterfeits, no.

To piggyback/expand on DaClyde's comment, reprints are acceptable, but they need to be clearly labeled as such. Simply reprinting a vintage card without making it clear that it is not original would be considered a counterfeit or forgery, and would not be allowed. A lot of card companies have issued reprints of older cards, but they are designated as reprints on the card itself, typically with a new copyright date as well.

Thanks, though I'm unclear what might be classed as a counterfeit.

Thanks for the expansion. That's helpful.
The context is that I have a lot of very old cigarette cards (early 1900's) and there have been many reprints/reproductions of them since the late 1990's. I noticed some were one the database so I thought I'd query before I got in trouble for adding things that shouldn't be on here.
I had a similar situation with milk caps/pogs and with coins/medalians.

There is the addition of the MLB logo on these that shows whether it was original or not. Otherwise, they wouldn't be listable.

Very little to tell the difference as the fronts look the same and the backs have the same copyright year
