What the hell happened to Bert Blyleven? Why the high price on that? Seems the rookie card price has exploded. Is that across the board for 1970s vintage?

Kerry,
I did a quick 'Sold' search on eBay and the median price on the last 10 to 15 sales is about $11 to $12.
My 2 Cents

Double yes. The 70s were awakened when the hobby exploded with investors. Almost all the sets have seen exponential price growth and no longer the sleepy sets. I found it hard to believe at first, but then one remembers that those cards are nearing or over 50 years old now so....

The' 71s are massively dependent on condition. And because Blyleven is one of the few rookie HOFs from that year the real high grades got some impressive prices. As a result, it made a lot of lazy top 10 card lists when "investors" were buying up cards and the whole market shifted up.

I was hoping it was because there was a rumor that the Dodgers are fed up with Craig Kimbrel and are willing to pull out all the stops, including taking on a 71 year old Blyleven to just get three outs to close out a game properly.

I assume you mean the price listed here on this site. I took a quick look and there were several prices entered by user Ymmat that were all over $60. I took a quick look on ebay and as mentioned earlier in this thread it is selling on average around $10 to $20 give or take. I entered in prices for two recently ended auctions ($13.50 and $33.47 as they were two random prices I grabbed from the first page of results) and the price showing on this site dropped to the $33.47 price. I'm sure if I started entereing everything from the lowest current price ($1.29) to the highest ($147.50) we'd a totally different price as well.
This goes back to the age old argument I've seen here about using site prices as they are only as accurate as what has been entered. If someone is wishing to inflat a price they can enter in higher sales. If they wish to lower them, they enter in all the low sales. Since I'm trying to trade for the last 50 cards I need to finish that set, I've been doing my best entering in realistic prices for the cards I'm either looking for or looking to trade off. In the cases of what I'm looking for, I want to make sure I'm finding decent prices if I find them at card shows. The prices here are what we as users make of them and only as accure as we allow them to be.
Another point already mentioned, in the case of 71s, condition is very critical to their pricing as those black borders are a pain to keep crisp.

I don't own any cards that are graded by 3rd party graders but does the site pricing take that into account
when entering pricing? (specifically on the data site of things.)
Are all prices rolled into one datum on the overall price spectrum?
Kinda noob question but I know it's a huge factor in comic book collecting

trade priorities are 95 Fleer Ultra Spider-Man gold foil sig parallels and 95 Batman Forever Metal. happy to do 10:1 or more depending on rarity.

that was what i was wondering about. i think this is one instance where TCBD price is out of whack with the market. in general i think our prices are pretty accurate, but every once in a while you'll get an anomaly. the blyleven for $60 seems inflated--unless of course the condition is exceptional. and as we all know those 1971 cards are tough to come by in top shape.
