Glad you mentioned Cooperstown. I went to the HOF with my brother back in '02 (oh my goodness that was 20 years ago!) and I think we did briefly pop into a card/memorabilia shop, but we were only in town for a little more than a day and we were focused on seeing the Hall. I'd be interested what the card shop/show scene looks like there.

I need to get there again! The card shops were fantastic! The hall of fame I need to revisit. Plus, the hotel I stayed in had a McDonalds, a Pizza Hut, a grocery store, and a Chinese food restaurant in the same plaza! It is just a great overall experience, even if you don't go to the card shops. But, the steakhouse I went to is closed permanently and the wax museum isn't really worth the time.

Regarding the HOF (baseball or other sports for that matter) it would be kind of cool to organize a TCDB user meet up during any of the induction weekends. I go to the baseball hall nearly every year.
For those unfamiliar with that weekend, on the saturday before the induction, they have a parade of all the hall of famers sitting in the backs of pickup trucks down mainstreet. After that parade and after the HOFers finish signing autographs and go into the hall, the street mostly clears for the night. It would be a perfect time for any users from this site to just meet up before heading off to their hotels or wherever they are staying.

The best shop in America may be Bel Air Sports Cards in Bel Air, MD. It is revolutionary in its approach to the card consumer's experience.

I grew up about an hour from Bel Air. How long has that shop been open. I will have to check it out next time I'm up north for a visit

Rather than traditional shelving and display cases, they have a "card bar" where customers can sit, open their packs of cards, watch TV, and have a soft drink. They also have special events for children and late night events for adults. The shop is three times the size of a typical card shop, but not too large, like Dave and Adam's. It still maintains the hometown feel.
There is a contest currently running to choose the best card shop in America, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bel Air Sports Cards and its owner, Mel, won the title.

Bel Air Sports Cards is a great shop.
Lot's of new cards, lots of singles, diem boxes, unopened packs and boxes.
The owner, Mel is very friendly even though he's a Browns fan in Ravens country.
They have a larger bar like table top to sit and look at the boxes of cards that they have.
They do lot's of activities for kids like pizza parties and box breaks.
A great place to visit.
