So as I often think about reorganizing my collection, one thought that I had was to penny sleeve a portion of my collection that I am more likley to look through and show to others. I currently don't use any sleeves at all. So I had been thinking about maybe sleeving some cards and putting them in smaller boxes. I don't think I am actually going to end up doing this, but during this thought process I noticed something odd. It appears that ultra pro penny sleeved cards are not fitting into BCW boxes.
I got my son a 200 count BCW box to store some of his cards. I tried putting a sleeved card into the 200 count box, and the card didn't fit. The top of the sleeve would get crunched when the box was closed. It would even move the card slightly at an angle. I was confused because I thought a lot of people used these standard boxes for sleeved cards. I put that box together basically perfectly, so the box is straight and lined up. Do ultra pro sleeves not fit in the standard BCW boxes that have the cards horizontal? Do maybe only BCW sleeves work? I think those are slightly shorter.
Also, I sleeved a thick card with a thick card sleeve, and that card didn't even fit into my standard 3200 count full lid boxes. They fit in the row, but the sides of the row squeeze the sides of the penny sleeve so they don't sit in there nicely. I didn't think that a thick card sleeve wouldn't fit in the 3200 count boxes either.
What's going on here? I have never heard of sleeved cards not fitting in these BCW boxes before.
