   I'm trying to upload 8x10 card images, but keep getting this notice -  "File exceeds the 1MB limit. Lower the scanning resolution to reduce the file size and try again". I started at resolution 300DPI, and kept reducing it and trying again. Now I'm down to resolution 250DPI, and still the same notice. Does anyone happen to know the correct resolution? Do I drop it to 200 DPI, 150 DPI. How good is the quality of the scan going to be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The DPI (dots per inch) needs to be lower ... maybe around 80 or so. The width/height above 600x840 should be fine as long as the DPI is lower.

   Wow that low? I would have thought going that low, would have been like looking at the picture thru a frosted sheet of plexi-glass. Obviously not tech savy here, and my go to tech support (6 year old youngest grandson) is home sleeping. I stopped asking my older (teenager and adult grandchildren) these things, because I was getting tired of the loving eye rolls and headshake, from them. I didn't want to get to the point, where I started thinking about taking them out of the will. lol 

   I love this site, and all the knowledgeable, helpful members. Even if I don't have nearly enough time to spend on this awesome hobby.

I think the 150 will work.

You can adjust it easily in PhotoScape. When I was posting the SI for Kids full pages I had to dial them down quite a bit to get them to post- they are over 3 MB on average without adjustment.

Hmm...I always scan my cards at 600 DPI. This results in a large file size but I never lower the DPI. I simply resize the image until it is about 975 kB or less (mouse over the image in Windows Explorer and it will show dimensions and image size). This is quicker and easier than rescanning the card(s). I normally use Irfanview or Photoscape X to resize images but it can also be done by right-clicking the image, click "Edit" (takes you to MS Paint) and then click "Resize".

I scan pretty much everything at 300dpi to avoid any weird artifacts, and then resize the images down to like 1200 px tall.

I am scanning 6.5" by 5" cards, a few of the Fronts remain over 1 MB. even at 100 dpi.  Would the site rather I rescan them in black & white or resize the images to be much smaller than the actual can size.  11 of the 220 'jpgs are over 1 MB.  What to do ? 

You should be able to re-size the images in terms of number of pixels (but while keeping the same quality/DPI) a few different ways. I don't have to do it very often so others probably have better suggestions, but one method is to open the image in MSPaint, click the "Resize" button, then pick a lower percentage. After cropping the image again you can do a Save-As (so you don't lose your original just in case) and then see how large the file is.
