I've done 3 sportlots boxes to Canada.
To take full advantage of the 6.95 taxes and customs, you need to keep the box below 4lbs. With that in mind, do as most people have been saying:
- Consolidate purchases to as few sellers AND purchases as possible
- If the card(s) arrive(s) in a PWE, that whole PWE gets sent to you in the box. They have high volume sellers that ship multiple orders in separately labelled team bags to Sportlots. You get just the team bag
- Items shipped to the box start with a weight of 1oz, even if its a single card. 16oz=1lb.
- Approximately 12 cards from an individual purchase from a seller will also be 1oz, so it pays to have a larger order.
- Separate purchases from a single seller will be weighed separately. So if I purchase 2 cards in two separate orders from Bob's cards, that's 2oz. But if I had done that a single order, it would have been just 1oz. It adds up!
- You can follow the weight totals on the website as the orders arrive. Be careful to slow those purchases down as you get closer to 4lbs. My first order was exactly 4lbs. I stopped at 3lbs 15oz the next two orders.
I didn't follow the guidelines my first purchase and it turned out that once shipping was calculated on the box, ithe cost per card was probably not worth it. But I still got cards that I needed.
Honestly, I haven't used the box since. Partially because my wants are specific and few enough that I can't justify another box order, but also because I've learned which sellers have favourable shipping directly to Canada and I don't have to wait.
