I have given up collecting.
The new stuff anyway. It's never on the store shelf, it's over inflated and most of it is being bought up by the investors not leaving anything for the hobbyist.
The only new stuff I have is when I pick up bulk cheap lots from a local collector who buys and only pulls out the good stuff. I'm probably paying around 10 cards for a penny and I get a lot of junk era stuff in those lots too but I get hours of enjoyment going through it all.
Is it cheaper just buying what you want instead of paying the outrageous prices for unopened these days? I understand part of the fun is opening up a pack for the big hit. I haven't bought much new for a couple years so I'm just curious if there is any value in buying and opening anymore?
