Do you just not use penny sleeves?
I typically throw away the toploaders I get from eBay purchases and replace them with new ones. The sleeves are typically fine

He may have a large stockpile . Also depending on how they're packaged the sleeves could be "sticky" making them worthless to re-use

Question, before all the madness began how much was a case of ultra pro sleeves? A case on Amazon is well over 100 dollars. I would think that these would have been considerably cheaper before?
Also as linked earlier, BCW has great prices on sleeves (although they seem back ordered and shipping is a bit pricey with them.) However I have never actually seen a BCW sleeve in person. From pictures, they seem to be shorter than Ultra Pro sleeves which seems like the card wouldn’t be as secure inside and might have a harder time fitting thicker cards. Can anyone who has used BCW sleeves confirm that they are shorter?

If you don't have to have Ultra Pro just go on ebay as if one uses a lot of penny sleeves you can get a box of 10,000 for under $100 after tax plus free shipping. I just bought 20,000 for $161 after taxes with free shipping a month ago. They are cardboard gold brand which to me doesn't matter but they are not quite as soft. For reference I bought a similar brand of 10,000 last April for $60 after tax with free shipping.

They are a little thicker and shorter. Yes, thicker cards fit in them, I can get the baseball 2000 Fleer Tradition in them. they also don't let the card move around as some bigger thinner bags do. A simple fact. If the card can't move in the sleeve it can't be scratched when in the bag. They also fit in boxes and in top loaders with no extra plastic getting in the way. So if you put a card in them with the opening at the bottom then put it in a top loader. No part of the card is exposed. They are made with a better plastic, they are clearer, it does not even look like that the card is in a bag. They are so clear that I've picked up a card to put it in one, only to find out it's in one already.
I use them for my cards and all other penny sleeves are used for outgoing trades. I can't find a better penny sleeve than BCW.
Buy a small pack and check them out. if you don't like them I'll buy them from you! Because all others are pathetic trash to me. I'm serious, make a note of my page so if you don't like them you know you can sell them to me. :)

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

A case of Ultra Pro penny sleeves (10,000) used to sell for $50.00 (including postage) on eBay. They were half-penny sleeves. Now they're penny-and-a-half sleeves.

I have a stockpile of sleeves and toploaders. I had an even larger pile but cut it down to a 550-count box stuffed full and a small stockpile near my work area. I have a 1600-count shoebox, an USPS Large Flat Rate box, and a few piles on my dresser of toploaders. Anymore that come in go in the recycle bin.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Unless you don’t go to the same shop I go to for supplies! 😉
I’m having a hard time finding Semi Rigid Sleeves as it seems they are sold out too. Don’t get me going on top loaders as they are being bought up like candy. 😫

Plastic shortage plus a ton of new interest in the hobby is not helping with supplies.
To the previous question, I throw out a healthy number of penny sleeves from purchases or trades. I get plenty with number, stickers, or writing on them. Some are just old.
Biggest issue for me is the massive waste of toploaders because of people who STILL USE SCOTCH TAPE ON TOPLOADERS. Why send me a $100 card in a toploader you closed with scotch tape. I am never getting that adhesive completely off the toploader, so if the card is staying in a toploader I gotta get a new one that doesn't have adhesive stuck on it. Dumb. More people adopting painters tape instead would collectively save this hobby from a lot of waste.

I wonder what PSA does with all the semi rigids they receive?
