What would be better to have in a vintage collection…a card that has sharp corners but is very off centered or a card that is perfectly centered but has slightly rounded corners possibly even a very minor crease?

The perfect centering usually has more eye appeal, especially if it is from a set that is notorious for bad centering.

I've gotta agree with Corky. Centering over edges/corners. BUT, I'd also be happy with an off-center card with perfect corners/edges.
Personally, when it comes to vintage I just want it to not have any creases or holes.

Yep, what they both said! Especially Spaz. When it comes to vintage cards, I'm thrilled if it has no pin holes and no creases. Maybe no tape marks on the front marring the picture. I almost expect a vintage card to have some corner issues, if the corners are perfect I get suspicious if it's real or a reprint or something. However, you should decide on what's more important to you in YOUR collection!

I would rather have a well centered card with corner issues. At least it was once a mint card. The off center card started life flawed

I agree as long as no creases stains or holes I am ok with it.

As I dig through vintage boxes lately this is something that I've gone back and forth on too, especially when loooking at those hard-to-find high numbers. While I'd prefer sharper corners, eye appeal will win out in the end. I can deal with some off-centering as, let's face it, quality control wasn't a priority back then. If there's just a sliver or no border, moving on. What I'll pass on is creases, paper loss and the such. Chipping (i.e. 63 and 71), printer lines (i.e. 62 and 70) I'm okay with, they don't tend to detract for me unless I'm seeing more white than the original color.

Well, someone had to disagree. Though I abhor OC cards, I prefer sharp corners. A card as near to Mint as possible, Soft corners to me is used. A card with soft corners has been around the block a few times. Sharp corners usually mean only one other owner. That's important to me.

I'm with you on that. My cut-off is when the border is gone/nearly gone. I've taken an o/c card with sharp corners over other choices before.
