I'm really a singles collector, so I like the inserts. I just had such an urge to rip into something. I guess my memory is short. This is similar to the last box I opened. I should have stuck with blasters.
I haven't looked at my local Target or Walmart since May. I went to buy birdseed and checked out the card section then. There wasn't one. Completely bare shelves.

I'm a set collector who bought a hobby box and jumbo box from my LCS at pre-sell prices--big mistake. My LCS has now lowered hobby box prices by $20 and lowered jumbo box prices by $50.
I had already mixed my jumbo box inserts/parallels with my hobby box inserts/parallels when I saw this thread. Anyway, here's what I do know about my hobby box break...
Set/Parallels
Base cards: 296 (Same as the OP)
Doubles: 16 (Same as the OP)
SP/SSP: 0
Gold SN2020: ?
Rainbow Foil: ?
Other parallels: ?
Inserts
?
Silver Pack
?
Hit
Major League Materials #MLB-DJL DJ LaMahieu
So my hobby box was four cards short of a complete Update set but I'm pretty sure my jumbo box will have those four needed cards.

The short prints have stated odds of 1:63 wax packs and 1:20 jumbo packs, so about one every 2 to 3 wax boxes and one every other jumbo. The SSP cards are about 1 every 3 to 5 cases depending on the product. Not uncommon to open one box and not find an SP.

Always looking for baseball variation/error cards and anything Garrett Whitley or Ian Anderson

Little bit different I got the Jumbo box. For some reason the LCS I went to had the Jumbo box $50 cheaper then the Hobby box. I told my wife that I almost wanted to go back and by another because of the weird prices.
Base set I got all 300
Dups 32
SPs I got 1 and was happy since it was Aaron Judge
1985s 6
20 years 1
A numbers game 1
Advanced Stats 1
Decade's Best 4
Gold 1
Relic Major League Material Relics Black MLM-NA Nolan Arenado SN 199 same as the OP Mine has a bat piece while the picture on here is a jersey
Prospects 4
Rainbow Foil 3 Probably my least favorite parallel.
Turkey Red 24 Was one per pack
Turkey Red Chrome 3

I got lucky (back in June) and walked into Target the same time the Bowman cards were being placed on the shelves. Then while chatting with the "delivery guy" I watched a person take every blaster and hanger pack off the shelf, except for the one of each I had. That's the only time I've seen cards this year at Target. I'm hoping to find some update cards but not counting on it.
Sidenote: I need 7 of the 9 Royals gold cards. If anyone pulls a Royals gold card I'd appreciate a chance to trade for it.

From what I see in this thread, I'm even more happy that I bailed on all things Topps about a decade ago! Seriously, a Topps Gold SN2020 parallel showing up as 1 per BOX!!! Jumbo or otherwise, that becomes an INSANE number of cards being printed to only get ONE SN2020 card in any box. Topps can keep their current crappy and eventually worthless cards. The last 5 years of cards are the new 1989-1993 cards!!! Especially when it comes to Topps cards. Massively overproduced long before now and only recently getting big money because idiots are flooding back into the hobby because they are bored with sitting at home. Investors are NOT what's driving the high prices this time. It's the people sitting at home with no knowledge and nothing better to do with their spare time but spend the extra money they saved from having no transit costs.

I hope you're right about the possible Topps crash, Spaz. I feel like I'll be waiting forever for that 2014 Topps Betts rookie to come down from its lofty heights... if it ever does.

As I mentioned in another thread, I bought one hobby pack for $5 at the LCS yesterday and got an SP of Kyle Lewis, plus some insert that looked like a 1989 Topps. So maybe I got my money's worth. But I still hate that I paid $5 for a pack of Topps. I just have to stick with what makes the hobby fun for me.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Did you get the fat pack (30/40 cards) or a regular pack. If it was a fat pack, they have been doing that foor at leat 4 years. It equates to around 3 hobby packs so the value is there. The 89 looking card is from the Prospects set. To go with your Beanie Babies signature, you could flip that Lewis really quick, ROY and all. I wouldn't do it, but that's me....
