I hope everyone is staying safe!
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I couldnt find anything via quick forum search. Anyhow, what's the explanation regarding Fleer Ultra being listed as just "Ultra" or Topps Stadium Club being just "Stadium Club?" With the extra time at home recently, I've been using the TCDB checklists to sort my team collections by manufacturer, and it's kind of annoying that Ultra and SP, for example, are no where near their Fleer and Upper Deck counterparts, respectively. I love this site, and everything is very consistent and laid out so nicely, but this is just one of those things that makes me sigh.
Thoughts?

You'll learn to live with it. I have. I didn't like it either but that's just they way it is. It has been discussed ad nauseum.

This has been a question I've long wondered as well. Certainly both releases have been branded Fleer Ultra and Topps Stadium Club on packaging. I'll be keeping tabs on this thread.

Like NJDevils said, you learn to live with it but it doesn't mean you have to like it. I still don't, never will especially when the card clearly says Fleer Ultra or Fleer Flair. We Have Leaf Studio listed only as Studio but later on we have Donruss Studio. We insist on this convention but then we name McDonald's products by the company that produced them for McDonald's. I no longer try to understand the philosophy of it all. I could go on and on but it has all been brought up and though many of us agree that we dislike it, it has never been changed. At this point, it owuld be a major task to convert everything to their proper names.

Simply put, it was Admin's decision to have the Major Release set names the way they are.

Beckett is worse... Playoff Absolute is just Absolute. Panini took over producing the cards and they get listed as Panini Absolute. How does that work???

I seem to recall the old Tuff Stuff and Beckett guides used those names like that bitd, so I am used to seeing them used that way in the modern day. It was probably done for spacing reason. I remember that Ultra was always after Topps and before Upper Deck in the early 90s magazines, and Stadium Club was always before Topps.

This is potentially a huge can of worms, but it's not like we can't locate these things for the most part.
Even breaking it down further which i am sure we'd rather not and here is just a small example of why someone would reach further than what is right there on the card.
1992 score has these 90's impact player inserts seemingly always named Impact players conveniently or otherwise, dropping the 90's and adding an s and there are loads more of these minor subtleties.

Hahahah, there are twitter memes to make my day but THIS right here got the best giggle. Listen to the old balls here and just let this thread drift off into the sky like a child's helium filled balloon wandering away from the fair. That or we need Wil Smith's pen. Just to be tabulated I am on the dislike column. Good day, I am back off to twitter. =D
