I stopped by a local Target store a couple days ago to peruse their cards only to find the card aisle replaced by four self-checkout lanes. I asked if the cards had been moved elsewhere in the store and was told they weren't. I'm not sure if this is something Target will be doing to all their stores in the near future, but be forewarned. We may not be able to get cards at Target soon.

NY/NJ area Target stores still have card sections AND self-checkout lines. Maybe your store was just too small to have both?

Meijer already drastically reduced their card selection. I hope Target doesn't follow suit. There's always Casey's gas stations. They always have single packs in the candy aisle, and I'm not sure many collectors know it.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I think those types of decisions may rest somewhat with the individual stores. There are two Wal-marts fairly close to me and their card selections are very different. That particular Target may not have done very well in the card sales, so he manager decided to get rid of them.

My nearest Target still has sports cards, but reduced in space like the Wal-Marts to make more room for Pokemon, MTG, etc. Depressing to see less and less sports and more and more of the other.

My Target here in NC still has a nice selection of cards and no self-checkout lanes. The card aisle hasn't changed much since the store opened several years ago and they seem to sell well enough to keep it there. It is about 1/3rd Pokemon/YuGiOh and such, 1/3rd random single packs and 1/3rd sports blasters/re-packs. I noticed some nice changes recently though. I have been in there for cards 2 of the last 3 Friday's.They added some hobby boxes and some Topps Factory Sets. The hobby boxes were all NBA and the Sets were all MLB, but it's nice to see bigger stuff show up. I hope those sell well and the vendors continue to add some stuff like that. It's still hard for me to believe that in the heart of NASCAR country, there were only 2 blasters of 2015 Press Pass and no marked-down blasters of racing cards when I was in there last Friday. Almost all of the Fairfield re-packs (in every sport) were gone too. I guess I need to find out when the aisle is re-stocked, so I can get in there ASAP afterwards.
