I just figured out that specific sets with autographed inserts, parallel etc dont automatically say the cards are autographed in the card details unless you edit them manually.  How can i possibly get all those cards together and mass edit them without digging through my whole collection?

I don't believe that's possible, other than when a checklist is initially posted. I've gone in an added notes on such individually after the fact, and it can be tedious.

It can be done for inserts and related sets. On any set that has inserts, click on the inserts and related sets, then click edit next to the set you want to change.  Then click update all notes for this set and you can then add or remove notes in mass.

As snocko says, mass edits CAN be made on insert/related sets, but not on base sets or across sets. Just a gentle reminder that when we're looking to update Notes on cards, please consider the entire set when doing so, not just the cards you have or want.
