An update in case anyone was curious. The cards were in 5 lots and I bid on all of the lots. Nothing was anything I really felt I must have so I kept my bids to where I was comfortable paying for cards I wanted.
Lot 1 - This was a huge lot of assorted football, baseball, basketball, hockey and nascar. This was a big lot. Some of it was newer and I assume this was picked over for any of the better items. Still this was a nice haul for someone looking to accumulate cards. I wouldn't doubt there was 10,000-15,000 cards in this lot but they didn't estimate a number. This wasn't the lot I wanted I think mainly because I have so many recent buys to sort and these were mixed so I put a max bid of $26.25 and it went for $29.25.
Lot 2 - This was a lot of complete fleer sets. Sets were from 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 & 1992. Also included 2 Ultra sets for 1991 & 1992. (2) sets still have a factory sealed sticker.I had only partial sets for most of these sets so I was fairly interested. I put in a max bid of $24.95 and I won this lot for $24. Set completion and no added sorting to be done other than I will take a quick look to first verify the key cards are there.
Lot 3 - This was a Donruss lot of sets. Sets were 1987,1988,1989,1990,1991 & 1992. I had the majority of these cards but I do like the 1987 set so I put up a bid. My max was $21.65 and it went for $23.65.
Lot 4 - This was another complete set lot that included 1989 & 1990 Bowman, 1990-92 Upper Deck, 1992 & 1993 Stadium Club and 1992 Pinnacle. I was fairly interested in this lot too because I didn't have the Bowman, Pinnacle or Stadium Club in complete sets. I maybe should have gone harder after this as I put in a max bid of $28.90 and it went for $32.00.
Lot 5 - This was a lot of complete Topps sets. The sets were 1984 and then 1986-1990. I liked the fact it had a 1984 set but I wasn't going to go too crazy here because I own all thes sets. I am more into collecting for my wants so if I won this I would be trying to flip to make a little cash to buy something else I wanted. I went maybe a little conservative because it wasn't a lot I really wanted. I put in a max bid of $32.85 and it sold for $38.00.
In the end it looks like for the most part it was only me competing against a couple bidders because I either won the lot or had the 2nd highest bid. I'm OK with only winning the fleer lot because it had a fair amount of cards I was missing and I didn't want to be spending a lot of money on a whole bunch of cards (I have back to school shopping to do for my youngest daughter). Buyer premium was 10% and there is local tax so I ended up spending $27.90 for 7 sets of cards or $3.99 per set.
