Just went to buy store credit on COMC and noticed that tax is being added to the price. Anyone know when this started?

April 1st is when it started, they did a post on it in their blog. You can thank the dirty, greedy and slimey politicians.

I think all online places are doing it now. eBay is taking money from my account that I was unaware of because they charge the tax separate from the fees. Amazon is also doing it now regardless of where you live. It's way out of hand with the taxes in this country.

For once, the U.S.A. is following Canada's lead. Our taxes went crazy (especially here in Ontario about 13 years ago when we had a Liberal government). 13 years of them drove our taxes to one of the highest in the country and put Ontario in greater debt than a lot of countries. Now the Conservatives are trying to fix it but with deep cuts to programs that will cause the vote to go back to the Liberals. Meanwhile at the federal level, there is Justin and his latest revenue brain child, the carbon tax. But he made smoking pot legal so it wouldn't hurt so much.

I had it happen to me for the first time on Ebay this week. Had no idea about it. Didn't know COMC does it also now on store credit. Thanks for the info. Glad my want list is getting low i guess.

That doesn't sound legal. It's a SALES tax. "Buying" store credit is just putting money in your account, not a sale. You're not buying anything. You should only be taxed when you make an actual purchase of merchandise (a SALE). Are they taxing you again when you purchase cards?

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

No, according to their post they only tax when you purchase store credit. Using store credit to acquire cards is not taxed.

My understanding is has to due with the state you live in. Not Washington state.

Well said sandy. The Canada people want to move to is one of, if not the highest, taxed countries in the world. However as long as I have medical care I wont complain TOO much. The carbon tax on the other hand is a FJ!!!! We get jealous of others low taxes but thye do make less. LOL I'm trying honestly.
