1. What the heck are the Topps Tiffany cards? From what I can tell by picture, they have white backs.
2. What the heck are the Donruss Aqueous Test cards?
3. I honestly had three questions, but I forgot them by time I made it to the forum.

Topps Tiffany were printed in Ireland with white cardboard and a glossy finish.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

The 1990 Donruss Aqueous Test was a different type of finish on the front of the card, and they printed AQUEOUS TEST across the stats onthe back. Beware of fakes (as these cards are fairly rare). The ink of the words AQUEOUS TEST should completely blend in with the stats. If they don't, it's been stamped on and a fake.
The above are my words, from what I had read and know. Now below, are the words from baseballcardpedia.com.
Donruss produced a high-gloss, or "Aqueous," test issue. The set is identical to the 1990 Donruss base set, with the exception of the glossy coating on the front and the words "AQUEOUS TEST" on the back. There are 264 cards in this set as only two of the sheets were printed.
According to hobby legend, these cards were issued in packs, however they weren't released to the public in general distribution. Several boxes were purchased by a card shop when a former Donruss employee, a packaging director, sold them off along with some other Donruss unopened wax boxes. Among the late-80s and early 90s Donruss wax boxes were a few plain white cardboard boxes with a memo, something to the effect of "Donruss Canada" written on the side. These boxes contained 1990 Donruss cello packs which were loaded with the Aqueous cards.
Other unopened Aqueous boxes claimed to have turned up at a card shop in the Midwest.
In late August of 2012, an eBay seller sold eight unopened Aqueous packs for $200-$250 each. According to a few of the buyers, these packs contained 15 cards and one puzzle piece even though the wrapper stated only ten cards in each pack.

From the front, the Aqueous Test cards are indistinguishable from regular base cards. While they are technically "glossy" from a printing industry standpoint, it is the same level of gloss seen on the fronts of most cards of the time period, not the "super glossy" finish of Tiffany cards or the Topps All-Star and Rookie inserts from rack packs and cello packs of the late 80s.

daclyde or vroomed, I just came across a few of these in a box of 90D
I looked at scans here and some (but not all) on ebay of graded ones and I do not see any that 'the stamp 'blends in'
do you have any examples of this that I can see?
thanks ,mark z

Never knew that they were produced in Ireland. Cool.
Is it also true that Topps Tiffany were only released in complete set form? I've never seen packs or wax boxes of them.

They were considered Topps' premium parallel set from 1984-1991. Then, Topps Gold came out in 1992. I never collected them.

Yes, they were factory set only. Also, "Tiffany" was a nickname the cards received years later. The set boxes call them "Collector's Edition", "Collector's Series".

I guess this depends on what you mean by "blends in". Basically the "AQUEOUS TEST" text was added to the printing plate and was printed along with all the rest of the text on the back, meaning it was not something stamped on the cards. So by "blends in" we mean that if you hold it up to the light, you shouldn't see any different reflective properties between the "AQUEOUS TEST" and the regular text. There are a dozen or so cards on the site here with the back scans included.

The Darren Daulton scanned on here is mine - and it's definitely real. As DaClyde said, the ink is all the same, so there shouldn't be a difference in the black ink of the stats and the black ink of "AQUEOUS TEST". If there is, it's been stamped on and a fake. I looked at the fronts of the regular and the Aqueous Test and I could not discern a difference that way. If you want, you can scan them and post to the mystery forum - more eyes on them. Scan big. :)
