Well, I know this won't impress at least 223 of you, but today I received my 40,000th different baseball "card." Ironically, it is a coin. 1971 Topps Rod Carew. I remember being a 10 or 11 year old and having my father - who could out-anal-retentive the best (or worst) of you -- ask how many different cards I had. The answer was about 1000. He was an avid collector of trains, coins, and stamps. He would love my collection of today, especially with the addition of the tobacco cards.
Anyway, I never thought I'd get to 40,000 cards, but now I fully expect to get to 50,000, despite my limited modern collecting universe. This site has contributed vastly to my collection -- introducing me to cards I didn't know about, keeping up my enthusiam, having members just send me cards I needed -- so it is a part of my celebration.
Thank you to all. And yay me!

Congrats V3. I know your collection is more on the pre-1980 side of the house. Impressive total.

Well, the bulk is still post 1980, just because of the math and the expense, but I do love my vintage stuff, of which there's a decent amount.
Cheers.

Congrats on your milestone. That's awesome! I wish I knew what card #40,000 was!

That's great V3. You have one of my favorite collections on here, in that you show some really cool stuff that has great stories behind it.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Congrats on the milestone! Like Dan, I have no idea what my 40,000th card was or even how many cards I have now. I'm guessing about double that number.

Nice milestone, congrats! If I get everything on my want list, my collection might approach half that size.
And I wouldn't snub any addition, even if it's not strictly a 'card'. Of my highest priority wants (ones for my Musgrave collection), more than half of them are Pinnacle Mint coins. As a matter of fact, only three of them are even cardboard, and two of those are 1/1's.
