I had 2 binders of my favorite team. I also had 3 or 4 800-ct boxes of cards of that same team from some of the same years and newer. I was about to try to find a older Beckett Annual issue to try to figure out what I had, and what I'd like to get to complete some years (if I was close) to having the whole team set. When I did a Google search to try and find the least expensive copy available, I stumbled across free checklists - here. So, as I was printing out some of the checklists of my team, I realized there were some cards that I had that weren't on the lists. When I found them, I saw they were missing the team info (or had the wrong team listed). So, I found out to update the teams, all I had to do was sign up and help out. A couple suggestions to Admin, a couple hours here and there helping out, and I'm still here - 6 years later. :) Ok, so the couple suggestions and couple hours are almost daily at this point. :)
I've had a lot of great people in my life help me with my collection over the years. I am trying to give back to the hobby as much as I can. Even if I devote every minute of every day for the rest of my life, I'll never repay what I got over the years. So, I'll just do what I can. And that's why I'm here.

I was looking for a way to track my collection online in addition to using excel and I found this website. After reading the forum postings and seeing how helpful and knowledgeable this community along with how active people are at adding / updating in order to have accurate information I knew this was the site for me. The ability to trade cards is an added bonus.

Like others, I was looking for an easier way to maintain what I wanted to collect. After being here for such a short amount of time, I really enjoy being able to come here everyday and either look at what I have or figure out what I want.
As far as trading, I am interested, but completely uninformed. I understand how it works and how to search for trade partners, but have never actually done it. But more than that, I am in the dark about getting cards out to others. I'm sure I will figure it out sooner or later. Hell, my wife works for the local post office.
In the meantime, I definitely will continue to add value to the site wherever I can. I have uploaded a few scans here and there and enjoy reading through the forums.
Keep up the great work everyone!!!
Brian

I'm here because the concept of a database, a repository of knowledge, speaks to me in a way, that may or may not make sense to anyone else. Being a museum curator is my ultimate dream. Physically I can't do it. But I can spend hours working on this.
Tracking my collection here, yes, it's fun but not necessary for me, I've had it on paper since I was 14 years old. Trading is great...I hope to hit 100 trades on here in 2019, making this the third site I've done that on, but I don't need to do that. I have plenty of space to store my duplicates, I have multiple storage units. And they hold probably 40 thousand duplicates already. (Someday I'll count).
I wouldn't change my experience here for the world, though. I would never have become a hockey fan if not for here, I would never have started Cardboard History if not for here. Both of those have become a daily part of my life. NHL has even surpassed NBA lately as my #1.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. what's the point of collecting something, if you don't know what you have collected. so this was the best site i found that can help me achieve that. before when i would google to try and find a card i wasn't sure of, often it would lead me here, so back in october i took the plunge and signed up to catalog my collection. now 6 weeks later, i have nearly 40,000 different baseball cards cataloged with a few more boxes to go before getting to the extras and then the other sports or non sports. i'm also appreciative of those who take the time to help others, to explain the ins and outs that go with all the variations of every single card these days. this is just my hobby, not a professtion, but that cant stop me from aquiring additional knowedge to so that i can help others, like others have helped me

I am here to keep track of my collection and I was just about to get all of it organized here when I got some extra money and now I have about 8 000 more cards to add here. :) Once I get it done, I hope to do some trading, but it will be quite difficult to do so since there are not that many people trading in hockey cards. Also I´m from Europe, so the extra cost of postal services might be too much for some.
Well actually, my first trade is on it´s way and it´s a start of hopefully many more to come. Love this site.

I found this site when searching for a checklist of all Kerry Wood cards. I started off tracking my player collections. I then jumped headfirst into starting my lifetime flagship collection. Tracking and trading on the site have become a daily part of life. I also love that I can carry my entire collection with me wherever I go.

Keeping track of my collection (which I don’t have with me). Cards are one of my hobbies and one of my distractions. I’ve basically input cards by memory but there’s just so many I’m missing and would be impossible to remember!

Primarily here to trade.
When I started collecting I amassed a huge amount of cards. I had no collecting strategy. I was really just buying up as much as I could. I wanted every card. Then I ran out of space and my collection felt overwhelming.
Now that I've narrowed my collection goals, I have a lot I can part with (although it's tough to say goodbye). So I'm here to trade those for ones I really need.
