Sub Collection Milestone
Started this collection in Aug 2014
One of each cardinal in binder by name (2 binders so far)
Neat seeing all the different issues on same page such as
Molina next to Moon, next to how many different Martinez, etc
Just passed the 1,000 different milestone.
Thanks to Bob D'Angelo in FL for the milestone hit.
a pretty minor name from a minor league team, but major hit:
1991 Classic Best Minor St Petersburg Cardinals 28 Mauricio Nunez
thanks to all who have helped with this project.
Most of the hits these days come from minor league and bowman issues of lesser known
players

Cool sub-collection and congrats on the milestone Mark! I might have some duplicates that could help you too. I just don't know for sure.
I would personally consider my baseball sub-collection as my entire Cardinals collection. My focus is a few certain STL players, but I'll accept any Cardinals cards that I don't have in trades and I'll keep any of them that I pull from packs. I passed 5K total Cardinals cards a few weeks ago. But not all of them are actual STL cards. My top-7 players in my Cardinals collection didn't all play for the Cardinals for their whole career. Musial and Gibson did and Molina has so far, but Ozzie and Lou Brock started with other teams. Then there are my collections of Edmonds and Rolen who didn't start OR finish their careers in STL, but were there for many years.
Ozzie Smith is my main collection and the rest of the Cardinals are my sub-collection. For the record, all of my McGwire and Pujols cards in my STL collection are ONLY the Cardinals cards. No pre-STL McGwire's or post-STL Pujols cards are counted in my STL collection. I'm pretty sure that Brock, Smith, Edmonds and Rolen are the only players that I count in my non-STL cards in my Cardinals collection. I think Ray Lankford played his entire career with the Cardinals too but if he didn't, I have no cards of him without an STL uniform. There are several other players that I only collect their STL cards (including Coleman, McGee, Pendleton, Lee Smith, etc.).

That's pretty cool. Congrats!
You've inspired me to do the same for the Red Sox. I'm still filtering my list because quite a few names listed here are not Sox players, but are linked to. It's kind of a pain in the butt clicking every name to figure out if they played for a team or not. It will be a fun project though :)

Congratulations. That's a lot of Redbirds.

That's a great amount of different players, and cool idea of a way to collect a team. And congratulations on your milestone.

Conrats on the milestone! If I counted right, there are 1981 players who have worn the Cardinals uniform. Yuo have more that 50%. How many of those players never had cards? Now your percentage is much higher! Keep it up.

Now I'm curious as to how many different Cardinals players of whom I own at least one card! I hope to remember this later and actually count them. I've been swamped the past couple days and will be for a few more. I've never thought about how many different players are in my Cardinals collection.

I have all knids of stats on my Red Sox collection, but never counted how many different players. 1787 different players have played for the Sox, not sure how many did not have cards, but I would think I would have a card for 66-75% of those players. In my spare time, I'll have to look it up.

Good luck checking this in your spare time. I've been clicking every Sox player listed in the database + adding wanted cards, and I've only got up tp "G". It's taken me about 4 hrs, so far.
