OK, I finally found the ones you were referring to. It seems all of the FB players have indvidual sets listed under '1976 Sports Deck Landsman' so the year on those is incorrect since these weren't released until Sept/Oct of 1977. I can follow the model on those as far as numbering, but it brings up the question of if these should be listed as separate sets for each player or attempt to aggregate them all into a single checklist?
If separated, I think those on the initial sell sheet should be listed as 1977, others (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, etc.) likely weren't released until 1978 and I would think should be labeled as such. If an aggregate set is preferred, a 1977-1978 date should cover all.
As far as naming, the outside of the box, for those that have outer boxes has:
Sport Deck Div - Cubic Corp.
<Address>
on the bottom, Sports Deck on the side opposite the sample back. There is no mention of Landsman other than a tiny signature on the drawing.
For those in a cello only, the ad card is visible that credits Allen Landsman as the artist, which also contains:
Sports Deck Division
Cubic Corporation
<Address>
near the bottom.
What should be included in the set name? 'Cubic Sports Deck'? 'Sports Deck Landsman'? Other? It seems the grading companies have settled on '1978 Sports Deck Division', but I'm open to whatever everyone thinks is best.
