I feel the membership here tends to be too nice sometimes and it causes extra members to get burned by the same person. I don't recall off hand what the paramters are for changing a feedback rating you give and I don't have the time to look at the moment but this feels like a transaction that should be marked as negative and probably adjusted to neutral if the trade gets completed (due to lack of proper communication).

Agreed. Forgive me for not going back and looking, but someone earlier in the thread said it too.
Negative feedback should be left when it's a negative experience when trading with someone. Do it to protect others, if nothing else. I can appreciate waiting for a while because we are human, and there are plenty of stories about a trade being completed after someone got out of the hospital or some other crazy happening.
I only remember one instance of retaliatory feedback being brought up. I understand it's a concern, but don't know how frequently it really happens. Perhaps Admin could implement something like on eBay - I believe (and could be wrong, forgive me if I am) that when negative feedback is left, the person it was left with has a place to respond. It doesn't change the feedback, but at least gives context.
Anyway...back to the issue at hand. Just wanted to say that I agree whole-heartedly with this.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I like the idea of being able to respond to any negative feedback to give your side of the story.
I'm lucky in that both my ratings here and on Ebay remain 100% but I did have a woman on ebay that bought something from me who I personally think was being extremely unreasonable. I finally ended up refunding her half the purchase price and letting her keep the item and she still wasn't happy.

Sorry to bring an old thread up, but after mentioning this I submitted the idea to the New Feature Tracker, and it's now open for voting. So, if this is something you'd like to see implemented, vote for it here: https://www.tcdb.com/FeatureTracker.cfm?MODE=VIEW&ID=395
While I don't trade on here, I gave it a few points, because I think knowing that someone can defend themselves against negative feedback will lead more people to leave negative feedback when it's warranted.

I voted...at least, I guess "1" means yes. This would be a great, needed feature.

My understanding has always been that you rank New Feature Tracker (NFT) ideas on a "most want to see" basis - so your #1 would be the feature you'd most like to see implemented. I don't think it moves up or down the priority list on a 1:1 basis of votes, however - I think there's some calculations done behind the scenes to determine the new score calculation after you rank it.

As an update,
I was to receive 18 cards, it was likely sent in a pwe and the trader in question did send me a message, but has not responded to my response to his message yet. I am hopeful that with the communication started again that I can work it out.
