When I got back into the hobby at the beginning of 2016, I used to often buy Fairfield repack boxes at Target, I especially liked the basketball repacks that had about 100 cards and an unopened pack for 5 dollars. Those were always so much fun to go through. Eventually though, I stopped seeing these at Target.
I was at Walgreens about a month ago, and I stumbled across some Fairfield baseball repack boxes and I picked one up. Still only a little over 5 dollars and came with around 60-70 cards when including the cards in the pack. I really enjoyed going through that box, and since then I have picked up 2 more. I didn't see any basketball though, it was only baseball and football.
My question is, how come these seem to only be at Walgreens now? The parent company of Fairfield is Excell which I am pretty sure is who supplies Target with trading cards. There used to be a lot of these at Target, and a lot of the cards I purchased as a kid were repack boxes from Target. Anyone know why they seem to all have shifted towards Walgreens only now?

The bitter side of me thinks it might have something to do with the high theft potential of cards at Target. Assuming I'm thinking of the right thing, the repacks would be kind of easy to break into or cherry pick through and wreck it for those who really enjoy the hobby and low cost options.

One thing about these I've noticed, the Walgreens near me always has some ASG 2017 parallels included.

Can't say I've ever seen them in Target (although, not many Targets near me to check). However, they were still in Rite Aid the last time I was there.

I know I've seen repack boxes at Target, I don't recall the brand though. I'm assuming they are the ones you are talking about.
I'm thinking it could be one of a couple things as for why you don't see them. They may sell better in different parts of the country so they'll focus the inventory where the largest sales are. Or perhaps theft related, not sure how the crime is in your area. Or perhaps they just sell out faster due to their lower costs.

I have only seen Fairfield football and baseball repacks at my local walgreens. I have not seen them in Target in my area at all (but I do not shop for cards at Target any more since the prices went much higher)

Seen Football ones at my local CVS, overpriced for what you get IMO.

Fairfield repacks are typically sold at pharmacies like Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS, however, I have bought them at Fred Myers and Target. However, they are nothing they used to be since the boom of 2020

Fairfield repacks are the "outlet mall" of cards. They are a way to move extra inventory and get some money out of it.
The past few years cards were flying off the shelves, hence, no extra inventory to liquidate. That pendulum is starting to swing back so they have more sealed packs to include.
Back when I got back into collecting in the early 2010's, there was a Fairfield "20 Packs for 20 Dollars" box at Target that was awesome. They had Topps, Upper Deck, and Panini packs in there. Cheap rips! They also had one run of a "Collector's Cache" box that included a Flair oversized box topper in each one, in addition to a bunch of singles, Topps Coins, and card supplies (toploaders, etc.). I wish they had kept making those -- I got a giant Jason Giambi relic SN50 out of that. Anytime they want to bring those back, I'll buy!
Some old videos of those are online:
