Seeking help on the proper process to follow. Agreed to a 4-for-4 trade with another member. Received my cards today, along with the destroyed remains of the package I sent to him. I've already reached out to offer to pay my trade partner for the cards I got from him.
My question is regarding what we do with the status of the transaction. Do I now select the "Problem" option, and if I do, does it give me an option to elaborate on what happened? Obviously I don't want to do anything to accidentally reflect poorly on my trade partner, so before I proceeded, I simply wanted to get some guidance. Fortunately, this is the only time I've ever had this to happen. Happy to make it right, of course. Just want to make sure I'm pulling the right levers to keep it all TCDB official, so to speak. TIA for any help you guys can offer!

Yes, you did the right thing by trying to make it right even though it was the PO that destroyed the item. Yes, move the transaction to problem and if you both leave the transaction alone for a period of time (maybe 30 days) the transaction will drop off. With that said, it will also populate all the cards back into each of your FST lists, so make note of all the cards in the transaction so you both can modify/remove those cards from your FST list after the transaction purges.

Regarding elaborate...the status doesn't ask for this...so no worries there. Hopefully you and your trade partner will leave each other good reviews/feedback for following through.

I'm sure we will; we've done several trades at this point and have established a great rapport. I know it's the PO's fault, but it shouldn't take much to make it right and I'm glad to do it :)

I would work with the other member and see if they will go through the process to complete the trade and they can then remove the 4 cards from their collection. I wouldn’t want to wait 30 days for 4 cards.

Follow up question: Since I received my cards without any issues, do I really want to move the transaction to "problem" status? Or would it be easier for us to mark it as complete after I've compensated him for the cards I received, and then he'd just remove the cards which were lost from his new inventory?

Of course...both can choose to receive and complete the transaction and then modify on the back side.

Sweet! If I had to guess, that's probably what we'll wind up doing. I'm still waiting to hear back from him, so we'll figure it out. I hate that this happened. But between collecting trading cards, hero cards, and diecasts, this is only the 2nd time I've ever had issues with the mail. Been collecting since late 2016, so I'd say that's a pretty good success rate :)
