What is with rip-off offers? I get a ridiculous amount of trade requests from people that offer $5 worth of cards for $50 worth of cards and don't leave a message like "hey let me know what else you'd want for these cards..."
I have to assume that most people on here are relatively educated on values....so are they just trying to rip me off hoping that I click accept??? We're not talking $5 for $10 worth of cards, as an example I just got a request for a trade offering 4 x $1 young guns for 3 x $10-15 young guns. I asked if I was missing something and was told not to be a jerk in not so polite terms.....starting to get annoyed here.....

Have you reached out to the other trade partner?

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

If it's from a real veteran trader (say 100+ positive feedback), probably not intended to be a rip off. It's possible that your valuation differs from theirs, so breaking it down card by card piecewise might be helpful. Just saying 'missing something?' is vague.
If it's from a less experienced trader they may still be working things out. A price breakdown, or a counter, might help with negotiations.
Communication and cordiality is everything.

It’s not hard to look up a card’s value….whether it be what has it sold for recently, what is the bv, or what is it currently being priced at. If we were talking one card is $4 and the other i$2, I could get behind your explanation….but when I’m getting requests for $50 worth of inserts for $5 in base I have a very hard time believing the trader is unaware.
we’re talking trade me your Jason Robertson young gun for 25 base cards….if you are that unaware of value maybe you shouldn’t be on here….or at least have the decency to include a message with the request!

Every so often, I get an offer as you are describing where even trying to counter is impossible due to how far apart the ask and offer already are. Best is to decline and then block the member from offering another trade. There are plenty of honest and good traders on here that the jerks need not be entertained.

It is always funny to get an offer that is totally lopsided.
Got one just a few weeks ago from a person offering 5 cards on my list for one on theirs... but the five for me were commons worth less than $1.00 total, while the one he wanted was an insert worth about $15.00. I declined.

Typically when I initiate a trade I will fill in my wants from the trade partner, and then on their side I use the text feature and let them know I am leaving their side blank so they can choose what they want rather than me picking for them.
