Ok need to rant a bit. I am tired of seeing people with "error" cards posting on eBay. Seriously the Donruss cards that are missing the "period" after leaf are wax pack and the dot was fixed for factory sets. That's just many examples of the "errors" people are posting. It's all junk wax era people - knock it off! Please and thanks - just my opinion sorry if some of you don't like it. Just annoying - I mean yes make some money - junk wax is on the rise - but seriously don't rip someone off on a Penny card.

Currently not Buying Collections - but if you have stuff you want to get rid of - let me know! We can hopefully work something out!

Snake oil salesmen are always going to get those who don't know about snake oil, unfortunately. Hopefully anyone getting into this hobby has the sense to read up on things before throwing their dollars around.

I want to believe that the sellers are ignorant to the true nature of the card, and that they themselves believe it's an "error" card.
But chances are they are just trying to con new / inexperienced collectors into thinking they have a valuable card.

It also bothers me to see miscuts, wrong backs, ink smudges, etc. also being sold as 'error cards'. Printing mistakes do not automatically equal error cards.

Scammers are gonna scam regardless of the circumstances. Those people know exactly what they're doing and unfortunately they're not going to stop just because it's wrong.

I must point ou that the words "mistake" and "error" are synonymous. 😛

First off, I found it funny you misspelled a word in a sentence that was talking about mistakes and errors. Just teasing, not being harsh.
Yes, mistake and error are synonyms in common usage. But often times a word has a very specific definition within an industry. For instance a player could toss a ball in the stands thinking it was three outs when it was only two, allowing a base runner to score. This is a mistake, but he won't be charged with an error. A no one ever says, "after 3 innings the Reds have 3 runs 6 hits and 0 mistakes". Within the card collecting community there is a similar understanding of what constitutes an error card.

That is what happens when you try to type on a cell phone with fat finger syndrome. Mainly I was just cracking a joke. I have found that in the hobby of card collection that one persons idea of what constitutes as a legitimate error is different from one person to the next. I totally understand what DocOso was saying.
