It was the number one brand here when most of us were growing up. From Wiki:
Hostess is the name of a brand for a number of potato chip varieties that was formerly the leading brand in Canada for many years since its creation in 1935. They fended off any attempt to displace them from their commanding position, and retained their #1 position into the 1980s, even in the face of increased competition from US-based companies entering the Canadian market.
Hostess eventually suffered serious brand erosion in the early 1990s with the introduction of various "upscale" brands such as Kettle Chips and Miss Vickie's. The brand was replaced by Lay's in 1996 as part of its major re-branding exercise. As of 2018, the Hostess brand is used only on a few products.

YES !! Oh how i long for those Hostess BBQ , they were and still THE best chips i ever had. I was a 200G bag a day user for the longest till poof 1 day they were gone. Not sure if they were in any way affiliated with Hostess in the USA which was known more for cakes and those yummy Snoopy (Peanuts) pies .
