“ Always thought this was a cool idea. I think what they did was take the older cards they had left over in the factory and stamp it with the "Rediscover Topps" on the side. Of course even these have parallels lol. ” -jdogg1228

“ I like the Buyback concept. It makes a card that would otherwise be a duplicate something new to collect. I hope when Topps gets the NBA license back they do some like this. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I wonder if it is cheaper for Topps to add a foil stamp to late 80s/early 90s buybacks and insert them into packs as inserts than to print new cards? That said, I do have a dozen or so in my PC. ” -mrackar

“ If you buyback the buyback card that Topps bought from you, does that make you the buyback seller buyback buyback buyer? Inquiring minds want to know. ” -hamrlik22

“ Buyback aside, this card is an underrated classic. An almost perfect action shot of The Wizard. ” -DocOso

“ I like the 1996 Topps design, but I don't like the stamped buybacks. That said I do have one of these "rediscover Topps" buybacks that I received in a lot of cards. I forget if it was from a trade or a sportlots lot. ” -captkirk42

Like Ozzie - seeing this makes me think of The Simpsons episode Homer at the Bat - but don't like buybacks

If Hoops ever wants to do a buyback of their 1990-91 cards, I’ve probably got all they need. Of course, so do more than a few people here, I imagine. Yes, I thought that I was getting a great deal back then when my then-hobby shop was willing to sell me two boxes real cheap! 😀

With the buyback I get confused with them does that mean like you send it to topps and they mail you the original card or no it doesn't

They "bought them back" (or found them in inventory), stamped them, and randomly inserted them into packs.

Buy backs are about the only way I get 'new' cards of Hensley Meulens, Dave Henderson or Roberto Kelly.
