Year: 1998

Set: Pinnacle - Home Stats (Rate)

Card: #63 Mark McGwire

“ What an utterly useless parallel. "I got a great let's put half the stats on the back of the card," said nobody ever....well except one guy at Pinnacle. ” -rmpaq5

“ Another hiccup by the RCOTD generator. Didn't we just have one of these last week?! Anywho, while I enjoy this design, the parallels for this set are maddening. Home Stats; Away Stats; Complete Stats....if you're not paying close attention you'll pull your hair out! ” -mkaz80

“ We had one of these just a little while ago and my same thing sticks, it would have been a great card if they hadn't put the duplicate picture on the back. They had two very good pictures and they they added a duplicate also and it lost points for me. Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco were two of my favorite players when I first started watching baseball, sadly the fall from grace for both of them, some hope remains for McGwire but I think Canseco is hated universally at this point. ” -davidhandberry

“ I may not be a baseball person, but even I have fond memories of his home run battle with Sammy Sosa from that time period. A big topic of discussion at my school. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ We just had 1998 Pinnacle Away stats as Rcotd. Now it's time for Home stats. I like neither of them. ” -Duke

“ Still remember where I was September 8, 1998 at 8:18 p.m. for #62. I thought it was the greatest thing ever that Fox would air a baseball game on a Tuesday night and not just the Saturday game of the week. ” -vanstryland

“ Pretty nice card visually. I want a first name on the front of the card and a Team. The back is OK and I understand this is a home stats subset but I really don't care about stats at home. The back is fine for what it is. I think the concept of a home stats subset is dumb. ” -BSwagger

“ Nice Cardinals card that I don't have. And I like photos of a guy fielding his position because there don't seem to be many. ” -switzr1

“ First Gary DiSarcina away, now Big Mac home. ” -Tylergallo

“ Wow! 2 from the same set inside of 10 days or so. Truly random!! ” -cjjt

“ Not a fan of the design. Although the back is not bad. ” -parsley24

Shouldn't the "home stats" insert feature the players in their home unis and the "away stats" in their away unis?  That's really bothersome to me.

Wow, I must have missed the last one. A 20 year old parallel set that I didn't know existed. Have to check to see if I have any, looks like ony 3 Red Sox in the set for me to chase.

Guess I missed this one. As others have said this is the "Home" version from a set were we had the "Away" parallel. If I recall looking at the checklist last time the Home and Away versions were parallels to a base version that had all the stats. All 3 (plus whatever parallels they did with this set) have the same front photo and look exactly alike on the front and the backs are different if you bother reading them when you have more than one copy of the card. I think it was a pretty silly idea.
