- Sixty-six cards are double-printed due to the number of cards made available on printing sheets.
- On the backs, some cards had one of several baseball at-bat situations, making it possible to 'play' a game once enough cards were amassed.
- Milwaukee does not have a manager card in this set. George Bamberger was hired in late January 1978, too late to be included.
- Cards were made available to the general public in the following ways:
* 14-Card Wax Packs
* 21-Card Cello Packs
* 39 (13x3) Card Rack Packs
* 42 (14x3) Card Wax Grocery Rack
* 12 (4x3) Card Holiday Rack Re-Pack - The big rookies in this set are Eddie Murray, Paul Molitor, Jack Morris and Alan Trammell. Other notable rookies include: Lou Whitaker, Lance Parrish, Art Howe, Willie Hernandez, Ray Knight and Ernie Whitt.
- #110 Richie Zisk - 1977 All-Star Game starter Richie Zisk is missing the A.L. All-Star OF designation on his #110 card.
- #146 Doyle Alexander - UER: Born "9-5-50", should be "9-4-50"
- #173 Robin Yount - UER: Last line in the write-up on the back, "...at Newark in 1971", should be 1973
- #458 Jeff Newman - UER: Born in "Forth Worth", should be "Fort Worth"
- #544 Len Randle - The Len Randle card (#544) was photographed at Shea Stadium on July 31, 1977 in either the 3rd or 4th inning. Gene Richards is the first baseman. He was picked off in third, and judging by his expression, this may be that play.
- #689 Cleveland Indians - UER: Card number "689" printed upside down
- #707 1978 Rookie Shortstops (Mickey Klutts / Paul Molitor / Alan Trammell / U.L. Washington) - UER: Trammell was drafted in 1976, not 1972

1978 Topps Jose Morales #374 variations. Theres the red laces with black laces over the red and there's red laces only, but is there a 3rd version with black laces only? | ||
First cards I ever bought were from this set, and a couple of years later I told my father that I wanted to complete the set. He surprised me later that year with the full set, and I've had it for more than 40 years. It was a hand-collated set and has a lot of miscut cards and cards that aren't in great condition, but I don't care. It is and always will be my favorite set of cards. Rating: 10 | ||
I remember putting this set together back in '78 Great memories. I was 11 at the time. I used to cut lawns in the summer to fund my card addiction, and I still have all of them to this day. Pete Rose and Thurman Munson were my favorite players.
