1997 represented the Fleer corporations 2nd full year issuing NASCAR sets. And they did a very good job. Set design and photography are for the most part excellent and the insert sets are above the norm. The tribute cards to Benson and Elliott are well done and the 2 Tribute cards to Terry LaBonte resulted in the 2 highest priced cards of the set.
About pricing... Beckett lists the Terry LaBonte CIA (autographed tribute) card at $120.00. Why such a high price? Try and find it. Between the year the card was issued,(1997) and this year (2019) I have seen exactly 1 card come out for sale on Ebay! Needless to say I jumped on the buy it now and got it. I was even luckier as the dealer had no clue as to what he had. He thought it was just an ordinary LaBonte signature and had it priced accordingly. I told him about the card and he said that he was still fine with the price he had the card at. One of the better deals I have made on Ebay to say the least.
