Trivia

  • The 1968 set of 219 cards is Topps first set in five years to contain NFL players. The second series (133-219) is slightly more difficult to obtain than the first series. This set has Topps first issue of Gale Sayers (#75).
  • The cards of the teams playing in Super Bowl II (Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers) are orientated horizontally while the rest of the cards are orientated vertically.
  • The backs of these 10 cards form an image of Bart Starr: 141, 148, 153, 155, 168, 172, 186, 197, 201, 213
  • The backs of these 10 cards form an image of Len Dawson, pictured in his 1960-1961 Cleveland Browns #18 jersey: 145, 146, 151, 152, 163, 166, 170, 195, 199, 200

The first I ever collected as a kid. I remember opening the pack and just staring them. Actually seeing the guys without their helmets on. They looked like warriors. I have recently purchased a few cards of this set and the cards still give me the same feeling

Purchased the majority of this set as a teen in the late 60's. They sat in a box in my parents home for 30 years. Recently recovered in excellent condition, still wrapped in cellophane and in cardboard boxes just like I stored them when moving away from home. This find also included some late 50's and early 60's cards for Bart Starr and several other Packers. No rookie card though, darn it!
