The one thing Panini Instant gets right is the history. Looking at card #20 of Zion is opening night against the Heat. There is no one in the stands behind the players.

Then you make your way to card #76 of Zion, and the Pelicans are playing the Mavericks. You can see Luka Doncic immediately to Zion's right as he is headed towards the basket. But then you look up at the stands and you see that there are some people in the stands now but their faces are all covered by their blue disposable masks. This card is dated February 12, 2021.

From the year before I kept being drawn to the cards from the bubble and especially the ones with pictures of the names on their jerseys that were replaced with messages about social justice.

I know they aren't the cool Prizms with the backgrounds removed and replaced with refractive sparkles shooting out of their ears but I like the story some of these tell better than the glitz.
