Definitely a cool design and a great player checklist. Although I'm not normally particular about centering this set is a bit irritating. Some cards are dead centered but lots of others barely have any border at all on one side. When viewed in a binder the poor centering really impacts the aesthetics of the set. Not sure if this was common from Fleer sets of other sports in the same era.

Quite simply, this is the most beautiful set of basketball cards I have seen. There is just so much to love: the 2-toned inner borders which frame the player photo (check out how vibrant the Sonics cards look!) and the incorporation of each team's font at the bottom giving each card a team-specific look, and the absolutely gorgeous font for the player names at the top (Busorama Bold for anyone interested), set in a color to match the bottom of the inner frame make these cards an exquisite treat. The player photos generally feature a pitch black background to make the players and those colorful borders really pop (see A.C. Green as an example). The color combination at the back is a unique combination of a faded pine green, salmon and white, and while there isn't much in the way of personalized info, the presentation is still classy. The end result is a set that contains many of my most treasured cards from a visual perspective, such as Xavier McDaniel and Adrian Dantley. My favorite Fleer set without question, and perhaps my favorite set of all.

The 1988-89 Fleer basketball set contains 132 standard-size cards. There are 119 regular cards, plus 12 All-Star cards and a checklist. This set was issued in wax packs of 12 cards, gum and a sticker. Wax boxes contained 36 wax packs. The outer borders are white and gray, while the inner borders correspond to the team colors. The backs are greenish and show full NBA statistics with limited biographical information. The set is ordered alphabetically by team with a few exceptions due to late trades. The only subset is All-Stars (120-131). Rookie Cards of note include Muggsy Bogues, Dell Curry, Horace Grant, Mark Jackson, Reggie Miller, Derrick McKey, Scottie Pippen, Mark Price and Dennis Rodman. There is also a Rookie Card of John Stockton who had previously only appeared in Star Company sets
