- The “Comic Characters” series is an untitled 25-card set that was issued in 1888 by W. Duke Sons & Co. (New York and Durham, N.C.) to promote Honest Long Cut Tobacco.
The front of the card depicts a comedic character with a brief description of the image depicted. The card back contains the logo for Honest Long Cut Smoking & Chewing Tobacco and a checklist of the cards included in the set.
The cards are larger than the standard tobacco card and measure 2 7/16” x 4 ¼”. The Lithographer was George S. Harris & Sons (Philadelphia). The American Card Catalog (ACC) designation for this set is (N104).
