Doyle was the Game 1 starting pitcher for the Yankees against the Reds in the 1976 World Series. The Reds won the game 5-1, Doyle pitched 6 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. His 6 hit 3-0 shutout over the Indians came on April 26. He followed that with a 2-1 complete game win on May 3 in Baltimore and then a 4-3 win on May 10 in Milwaukee. |
