This card might not be an UER. Apparently when the Red Wings signed Rogie Vachon as a free agent away from the Kings in the summer of 1978, the league awarded the McCourt to the Kings as compensation. The Red Wings filed a protest and McCourt was allowed to stay with Red Wings for the 78-79 season but after the season was over the Red Wings protest was denied and McCourt was officially a member of the Kings. Then the Kings traded him back to the Red Wings for a small fortune before the 79-80 season began. This card may have been printed after being awarded to the Kings and before they traded him back to the Red Wings. |
