Playoff's printing/packing company (Great Western Inc. in Dallas, TX) made a huge mistake with the Pen Pals Autographs that were supposed to be randomly inserted into packs (or redemptions). Instead ALL the autos/redemptions went into a small number of cases (one per pack) and the rest had none at all.
I discovered this myself in May 2001 when a FL dealer had several cases for sale on closeout because he couldn't sell one pack. So I bought all he had at a highly discounted price. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW SHOCKED I WAS TO PULL ONE AUTOGRAPH/REDEMPTION FROM EVERY PACK I OPENED! Playoff denied this even after I asked the then owner Ann Blake. She said "This didn't happen.".
