I think that the first pack of cards I ever purchased was from 1983 Topps Football. I then actively bought 1984 Topps Baseball and I think that I was hooked forever.

Interesting "see through" team name design. Photography is
decent and Marcus Allen is the prime Rookie card. Not one of Topps best but overall a decent set. 7.0

This was the first year I started collecting cards as a kid. I was 8 years old. The Redskins had won the Super Bowl and I wanted to start collecting my favorite players from that team. I was so happy to get Art Monk. He's always been my favorite player.
