After purchasing dozens of rack packs, cards from this set were stored loose in a cardboard box in my attic, and discovered years later. Realizing the conditions did not affect them, I traded the partial set but kept Joe Montana's example. Taking an absolute gamble, it was sent in to PSA and returned graded an 8!

One of the ugliest sets that Topps ever produced. It looks like one of those Kmart sets.
The Montana rookie saves this from being a total wreck.

This was the first cards i remember getting as i went to the grocery store in the little town im from. Ive had many sets thoughout the years and have sold them but always come back to this set. It is by far my favorite set with so many memories. I even loved that old hard stick of bubble gum and would keep sticks of it stored away as a kiddo.

I used to "borrow" change from my sister (a waitress) in the early 80s. Thanks to her, I have 2 complete 81 sets!

I got 3 1981 rack packs for Christmas. Didn't pull a Montana, but got a Bradshaw, and some other Steelers which was great for me!

Four of us chipped in $4 each and bought one wax pack. Pulled the Montana rookie.

First pack of cards I remember buying. It was in Sun Valley NV, from the ice cream man. I was eight years old. Couldn't tell ya if I pulled a Montana or not.
